Recruiter Spotlight: Michelle Swain

Michelle-Swain-Spotlight-Image

Recruiter relationships with their travelers go far beyond finding the right travel assignment. They can be a go-to resource for your most important questions, and a shoulder to lean on when things get tough. But nonetheless, the bond you form with your recruiter will likely become your greatest strength. Having someone in your corner can make all the difference.

To showcase the many personalities we have at AHS, we want to shed light on some of our most seasoned recruiters. People who have built long-lasting relationships with their travelers and continue to lend a helping hand to those looking to get into travel nursing.

We spoke with Michelle Swain, recruiter, and cat-lover, and this is how it went…

When did you start working for AHS?

“Before joining AHS, I was already a travel nurse recruiter with another agency. Two guys that used to work with me at that original agency had started working at AHS and recommended it to me. I actually had an offer on the table when I interviewed with AHS, and after meeting Darcy (our Director of Recruitment) and hearing how she worked – I knew I wanted to work for her – which all happened back in the fall of 2019.”

What do you like most about your job?

“The nurses! I always wanted to be a nurse and I love talking to them and learning about their day-to-day lives. My coworkers are also amazing! I love the culture at AHS!”

What type of certifications/specialties do you work with?

“RN’s and mostly ICU nurses.”

What question are you asked the most lately and what is the answer?

“What is the likelihood I will be canceled? I do not know, but I will be here to get you another assignment ASAP!”

What are some of your hobbies?

“I am into craft beer. I love fixing up and anything to do with my Volkswagen Beetle. I love to cook and consider myself somewhat of a prepper – I also collect pocket knives.”

Where are you from?

“Beaumont, Texas originally, and I did live in Denver, CO, for 15 years!”

How would you define your personality?

“Outgoing, always cracking jokes, loud and very empathetic.”

What’s an interesting fact about you?

“I am obsessed with anything New England. I am a cat person who is allergic to cats. I have 2!”
